Druk Path Trek Itinerary (6 to 7-days)

This 6 to 7-day itinerary is perfect for travellers who want to experience Bhutan’s rugged terrains, diverse landscapes, spiritual sites, and unique culture in a leisurely manner. Jambayang Travel Service can customize this itinerary based on personal interests, seasonal events, or additional activities such as trekking, cultural performances, or nature walks.

Trek Details & Practical Information

  • Trek Difficulty: Moderate. You will be trekking at altitudes of 2,800 to 4,300 meters, so some physical preparation is recommended.
  • Best Season: The Druk Path Trek is best done in the spring (March to May) or fall (September to November) when the weather is mild and clear, offering spectacular mountain views.
  • Accommodation: Camping is the main form of accommodation on this trek. Tents and camping equipment will be provided. There are also some small monasteries along the route.
  • Food: Most meals on the trek will be prepared by the trekking crew, offering traditional Bhutanese meals like Ema Datshi, Phaksha Paa, and rice.
 

Here’s a 6-day itinerary for the Druk Path Trek:

  • Morning:
    • Arrive at Paro International Airport: Your guide and driver from Jambayang Travel Service will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Paro.
    • Check-in: Take some time to relax and acclimatize to the altitude (2,280 meters / 7,500 feet).
  • Afternoon:
    • Visit Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong): This majestic fortress-monastery is one of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered dzongs, located along the banks of the Paro Chhu River.
    • National Museum of Bhutan: Located in the Ta Dzong (watchtower), this museum offers an overview of Bhutanese history, culture, and natural heritage. It’s a great introduction to Bhutan’s traditions.
  • Evening:
    • Leisure time: Explore Paro’s charming streets or relax at your hotel.
    • Overnight: Stay at a hotel in Paro.
  • Morning:
    • Start Trek from Paro: After breakfast, you will begin the trek from Paro (2,280 meters) to Jele Dzong (3,450 meters). The first day’s trek is a steady ascent, covering about 7 km (4-5 hours).
    • Trek Overview: The trail takes you through a beautiful pine forest, with stunning views of the Paro Valley as you gain elevation. You’ll also pass several small Bhutanese villages and monasteries on the way.
  • Afternoon:
    • Arrival at Jele Dzong: Jele Dzong sits high above the Paro Valley and offers incredible views of Mount Chomolhari, Bhutan’s second-highest peak (7,314 meters). The dzong itself is small and peaceful, with only a few monks residing there.
    • Evening at Jele Dzong: Relax at the dzong, enjoy the surroundings, and get ready for an early night.
  • Overnight: Camp near Jele Dzong (Altitude: 3,450 meters).
